How the Debit System Works
On-line Debit
An on-line debit transaction works like an ATM transaction accept master card credit card and accept visa credit card. It’s an immediate electronic transfer of money from the consumer’s account to the merchant’s account, requiring the consumer to enter a PIN at the store’s POS terminal. The request goes over a set of networks different from a credit card or off-line debit transaction to accept master card credit card and accept visa credit card..
Off-line Debit
Off-line debit card transactions require a signature for authorization. Although not credit cards, they are branded to accept master card credit card and accept visa credit card with a Visa or MasterCard logo and can be used wherever those cards are accepted. Off-line accept card credit using debit cards allow both off-line and on-line transactions; transactions that require a signature are processed through the same networks -- and incur similar “interchange” transaction fees -- as credit cards.
